Single vineyard - small batch - Barossa Valley

WHAT'S NEW AT SHRIEKING WITCH BAROSSA FARM IN JULY 2026?

** WE ARE OPEN :) The farm tasting room is warm and cosy and the tunes are ON. We are just around

from the Light Pass village at 238 Kalimna road. Bring the family.

** Vintage 2026 was awesome. We have some amazing Mataro, Shiraz and Grenache resting on oak now. We also have an affordable Pinot Noir in the works. Pinot Grigio release is next month!

**  Farm animal note: If you would like to purchase an animal treat bag to feed the animals, only the

designated food for those animals should be offered to our animals. Ask at the counter, and for safety

instructions as well.

** Our super cute Silkie chickens are growing up. So fluffy OMG. Our Polish hens are loving

a bit of free-range scratching too. 4 breeds of chook!

The Shrieking Witch Wines Story

Featured Products

Shrieking Witch Wines is the passion project for South Australian winemaker Nigel Nesci. Constantly surrounded by vines and wines growing up saw him working in, planting, training and picking grapes for wine production. Growing up on a vineyard, and working on a vineyard as a kid really gives you a connection and a passion for nurturing vines and growing the best fruit possible for winemaking.

After being formally qualified in winemaking and wine marketing, Nigel worked in cellars in South Australia and becoming a flying winemaker working across the globe getting his hands dirty from the USA to Germany and as far a Romania.

Fast forward several more years of winemaking across Victoria and SA,  with wife Jen and 3 loud and screechy (Shrieking) daughters, the family moved back to be with the rest of the clan in South Australia onto an old farm that was in the Lehmann family for many decades. Turning away from larger scale blended vineyard wines, we now have an acre of dry-grown Shiraz, and also a tiny Montepulciano vineyard.

Winemaking Style & an unpopular opinion...

The last decade or so has seen many producers change to produce what is described as modern, soft, lighter

wines with little new oak influence. Well, that is not us... Our approach for Red wines is to deliver as much colour, flavour and bang for your buck as we can. Without being too high in alcohol like the good old days, our wines are worked hard to produce rich, juicy, well structured Barossa wines out of the fantastic concentrated fruit from here in the Barossa Valley. Just pour a glass - you'll see what we mean.

OUR PATCH OF DIRT IN LIGHT PASS, BAROSSA VALLEY, SOUTH AUSTRALIA

Our acre of Dry-grown Shiraz lies on deep red-brown loam. A layer of clipped grasses lay

over the top to keep the evaporation low and frost risk low. We hand prune, and due to our deep

root system, we attain low cropping of small berries. Big colour, bigger flavour and balancing tannins.
